Chapter 16

Summary
In this chapter, the monster wants and is going to revenge himself against all humans, his creator in particular because of the rejection. He makes his way towards Geneva , out of sight from others. Along the way, he sees a younger girl, who appeared to be alone. She slipped into a river and it seemed like she was drowning. The monster shows compassion and saves the young girl from the water, and the man that was with her, thought that  the monster was attacking the little girl, and he shot him.
When he got closer to Geneva, the monster hid out in the woods nursing his wounded shoulder. When he got to his destination, he ran into William Frankenstein, Victors brother. When William mentions that his father is Alphonse Frankenstein and he called the monster ugly and wretched just like Victor did, the monster bursts out in a rage of revenge and strangles him to death.  He did that because he realized that William was related to his creator. He took a picture of Caroline Frankenstein that William was holding and placed it in the folds of the  dress of a girl sleeping in a barn- Justine. It was after this explanation that the monster asked for Victor to help him out  by creating him a mate so he won’t be so alone.

Theme:
The theme of this chapter is friendship. I think this because the monster planned to kidnap William and keep him as a companion because he thought that the harshness and apprehension of the rest of humanity had not yet hurt children so young. When he found out that William was “related,” the idea of revenge seemed better than keeping him as a companion. The monsters revenge was a greater priority over his need for companionship. The anger the monster had, triggered the murder which was a result of rejection and solitariness or isolation of the monsters life.
